Chapter 255 Divine Court Guards, First Judgment
Chapter 255 Divine Court Guards, First Judgment
North America, New York.
This megacity, hailed as the center of the world, is now engulfed in unprecedented panic and chaos.
The heart of the city, Manhattan.
At the top of a skyscraper called "Osborne Tower," blinding flashes of electricity were emanating from it. Countless thick blue arcs of electricity, like wildly dancing venomous snakes, darted wildly across the building's glass curtain wall, transforming the entire building into a gigantic Tesla coil.
The surrounding streets were completely without power and plunged into darkness. The sirens of police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances wailed through the night, completely surrounding the area.
Countless citizens and tourists are looking up in horror.
They saw a figure hovering atop the building, which was shrouded in electric light.
His entire body was enveloped in violent electric currents, obscuring his face; only a blurry human silhouette could be seen. He opened his arms as if embracing the entire city, letting out a maniacal laugh.
"Hahahaha! I am a god! I am the god of lightning!"
His laughter, amplified by the vibrations of the electric current, traveled for kilometers around.
"You mortals! Ants! From this day forward, I, Max Dillon, am your king! This city will be my divine kingdom!"
Max Dillon was originally just an ordinary electrical engineer at the Osborn Corporation. He was timid and ignored by others. During an accident while repairing circuits, he accidentally fell into a tank full of genetically modified electric eels.
Everyone thought he was dead.
However, amidst the resurgence of spiritual energy, he unexpectedly benefited from the misfortune, perfectly merging with the genes of those mutated electric eels and becoming a superhuman capable of controlling infinite electricity.
Power gives rise to desire.
Max, who had been suppressed his whole life, had his deepest darkness and madness amplified infinitely after gaining power.
He wants revenge! Revenge on all those who looked down on him! He wants the whole world to remember his name!
"Give me more electricity! More energy!"
Max roared madly as the backup generators in the Osborne Tower were operating at overload, continuously supplying him with massive amounts of electricity.
His body was like a bottomless pit, frantically devouring everything.
On the ground, in the temporary command center, the mayor and police chief of New York City were sweating profusely as they stared at the frenzied figure on the screen.
"Where's the military support? Where's the National Guard? Where are they?" the mayor roared into the phone.
"Mayor, it's no use!" A grave voice came from the other end of the phone. "The missiles we launched were detonated by him before they even got close! A powerful electromagnetic field formed around his body, preventing any metal object from getting near!"
"The F-22 fighter jet also tried, but as soon as it entered the range of his electric field, all its onboard electronic equipment failed, and it almost crashed!"
"Damn it! Are we just supposed to stand by and watch him do whatever he wants?" The police chief slammed his fist on the table.
Just when everyone was at a loss and in despair.
Two lights suddenly appeared in the night sky.
One of them was a dazzling gold.
One of them was a deep, dark red.
The two beams of light, like shooting stars, fell from the sky and hovered opposite the Osborne Tower, facing the figure wreathed in lightning.
The light faded, revealing two figures.
One of them, dressed in golden holy robes, had a handsome face and sharp, eagle-like eyes. Standing there, he was like a small sun, radiating light and heat.
It was none other than the Gold Saint, Aiolia.
The other, clad in dark red divine armor, was burly with bulging muscles, exuding explosive power. His eyes were filled with a burning desire and fervor for battle.
It was Ares, the god of war.
Their appearance instantly attracted everyone's attention.
"What...what is that?"
"Is she an angel?"
"A new superhero?"
The crowd on the ground gasped in surprise.
In the command center, the mayor and the police chief stared wide-eyed at the two figures that had suddenly appeared on the screen.
"Investigate! Investigate immediately! Who are they? Which organization do they belong to?"
Max also noticed the two uninvited guests. He stopped laughing, narrowed his eyes, and sized up Aiolia and Ares.
"Oh? Two more fearless insects have flown right in front of me?" He grinned, revealing a set of teeth that gleamed with electricity. "Have you come to submit to me?"
Aiolia didn't speak; he simply frowned, staring at the electric monster before him with disgust in his eyes.
In his view, this violent, chaotic, and aesthetically unappealing energy was an insult to the "light" he believed in.
Ares, on the other hand, seemed much more excited.
He cracked his neck, making a "crackling" sound, and stared intently at Max with his battle-ready eyes.
"Aiolia, what were the master's orders again?" he asked in a booming voice.
"Rules need to be upheld," Aiolia replied succinctly.
"What is our mission?" Ares asked again.
"To monitor the entire world and punish anyone who dares to overstep the rules."
"Very good." Ares grinned, revealing a set of gleaming white teeth. He took a step forward, pointed at Max with his right hand, and his voice was like thunder, resounding throughout the night sky.
"Mortal, Max Dillon!"
"You have abused the power bestowed by the gods, disrupted the order of the human world, and slaughtered innocent lives. Your crimes are heinous!"
"I, Ares, the God of War and a Guardian of the Divine Court, in the name of the Supreme Master, hereby conduct your first judgment!"
The verdict is as follows:
"death penalty!"
"Execute immediately!"
His words were clearly transmitted to the ears of everyone on the ground through various channels.
Divine Court Guards?
gentlemen?
Trial?
Everyone was stunned.
Max burst into maniacal laughter: "Judgment me? You two lunatics in weird armor? Do you know who I am? I am God! And you're about to turn to charcoal!"
He roared and shoved his arms forward with all his might!
"boom--!"
A terrifying column of plasma, thicker than a bucket, carrying the force to destroy everything, instantly traversed a distance of hundreds of meters and slammed into Ares and Aiolia!
That terrifying energy caused the surrounding air to distort and groan.
The crowd on the ground screamed in despair.
They believed that the two people who suddenly appeared were doomed.
However, they were faced with a terrifying attack that could instantly vaporize an aircraft carrier.
Ares didn't even move.
He simply, slowly, raised his right hand.
Then, he opened his palms.
The terrifying column of plasma slammed straight into his palm.
There was no explosion.
There was no sound.
That violent energy, like a stream flowing into the sea, was easily absorbed by his seemingly small hand.
The entire venue was deathly silent.
Max's maniacal laughter froze.
His eyes widened in disbelief at what he was seeing.
That was his full-force attack! Enough energy to overload a small nuclear power plant!
He actually caught it with his bare hands?
"Is that all the power you have?" Ares felt the negligible energy in his palm, and his face showed an expression of extreme disappointment. "It's really... too weak."
"It's not even enough to tickle me."
He shook his head, then gathered the absorbed energy in his palm into a rapidly spinning dark red energy ball.
"Now, it's my turn."
With a flick of his arm, the energy ball shot towards Max at a speed ten times faster than the previous plasma column!
Max sensed the threat of death. He screamed and mobilized all the electricity in his body to form an electromagnetic shield tens of meters thick in front of him!
However, it didn't work.
The dark red energy ball pierced through the electromagnetic shield without the slightest hesitation upon contact.
It's like a red-hot knife cutting through butter.
"No--!"
Max let out a final, unwilling roar.
The energy ball struck him squarely in the chest.
next second.
There were no earth-shattering explosions.
Max's body, composed entirely of electric current, deflated instantly like a punctured balloon. All the electricity within his body was completely devoured and annihilated by the dark red energy sphere in a fraction of a second.
His humanoid silhouette twisted and dissipated in the air, until finally, only a faint spark of electricity flickered in the air before vanishing completely.
A powerful superhuman who called himself the "God of Lightning" was instantly killed.
Both body and soul perished.
After doing all this, Ares acted as if he had merely swatted a fly.
He glanced at Aiolia beside him and scoffed, "This is so boring, it's not even a warm-up."
Aiolia ignored him and turned around. His golden gaze seemed to pierce through the barriers of time and space, sweeping over all the cameras on the ground that were spying on this place, and over all the national institutions that were monitoring this place via satellite.
He proclaimed in a devoid of emotion, godlike voice:
"Belonging to the Divine Court, it oversees the entire world."
"The master's rules are the ironclad laws of heaven and earth."
"Today is just the beginning."
"All those who transgress are like this scoundrel."
After saying that, he and Ares transformed into two streaks of light, soaring into the sky and disappearing into the night in an instant.
All that remained was a city that had returned to peace, and countless mortals who were utterly stunned by this miraculous scene.
New York, in the temporary command center.
The mayor and the police chief stared blankly at the empty night sky on the screen, their hands and feet ice-cold.
"Did you save that video... that video from just now?" the mayor asked in a trembling voice.
"Saved, sir," a technician replied.
"Immediately! Send it to the Pentagon with the highest encryption level! Send it to the White House!" The police chief jumped up and roared.
"Tell them! The world has changed!"
"God truly exists."
"And...they've already arrived!"
