Chapter 642 - 641: SCP-173 — The Original Statue
Chapter 642 - 641: SCP-173 — The Original Statue
"How do we end this quickly?"
Mu Qiu described the blueprint she had constructed, then said, "Everyone has two chances to be saved. Avoiding Sister Shu Ran’s fourth card will take a lot of lives, so you better treat me well."
Cheng Zhirang didn’t make any promises this time and asked the previous question again, "What exactly is this monster?"
"Mu Qiu, you better not say it!" Shu Ran rushed over to cover her mouth.
Still a frontal collision, the slightly high chest under her bank uniform bumped into her, almost making her stagger back.
"Mmm mmm mmm—" Sister Shu Ran, your chest bumped into me!
Shu Ran couldn’t hear what she was saying, still tightly holding her, threatening her, "Don’t say it! If you say it, you’ll be the first to be dealt with!"
"Mmm mmm mmm—" Bleeding and crying to help you guys, and you want to kill me!
"Shut up, you know, when I’m impulsive, I’m not too smart, killing the Purifier is not out of the question."
Mu Qiu: That’s true, occasionally brainless.
There was still sweat on her forehead, a few strands of hair falling down. Her slender waist was pinned against the wall, and her mouth was covered, looking pitiable.
Cheng Zhirang couldn’t help but step forward, pulled Shu Ran’s hand away, and lifted Mu Qiu to sit on the windowsill that extended from the classroom.
"Come on, now you can talk."
"...Am I really that light?"
Zhao Yu: "I prefer to think Brother Cheng is very strong. But is this kind of lovey-dovey scene something enemies would do?"
Cheng Zhirang lightly tapped her: "Speak."
Mu Qiu swallowed, facing Shu Ran’s death glare, she hesitantly explained the characteristics of the fourth card.
"Well, Sister Shu Ran, it’s really not my voluntary choice, it should be quite obvious, right? I had no choice. But it’s probably, maybe, nothing after saying it?
That card, its name is SCP-173, the original statue. It’s a monster from the earliest document in the SCP Foundation, also the first monster contained by the Foundation.
It’s a statue made of concrete, has a rather eerie appearance, and possesses life with high hostility. It cannot move when directly in sight, but when someone in front of it blinks or looks away, it moves at high speed, snapping your neck.
That is to say, within its line of sight, at least one person must always stare directly at it. When blinking, you must prepare for a visual exchange in advance, otherwise, except for the cardholder, no one can escape death."
As soon as she finished, Shu Ran let out a teeth-gnashing "Ah," then turned her back to the camera and squatted down, ignoring people.
It’s kind of cute.
"Sister Shu Ran, don’t blame me. If I don’t reveal it, then no one but you and me would know, and with no one knowing, others would’ve all been out.
Leaving only me to face the test of 173, I’d definitely blink, and with no visual exchange, I’d be done after blinking twice. Keep dreaming."
Shu Ran’s nails scratched the wall, making an ear-piercing screech.
Mu Qiu shrank quail-like: "Okay, okay, I’ll shut up."
Shutting up means silence, but she could still swing her legs.
The windowsill was a bit high, her feet dangling in the air, she just sat there swinging her feet for fun.
Cheng Zhirang wanted to speak, but his thoughts were constantly interrupted by the legs swinging beside him, so finally, Chu Qiu was the first to express shock about the 173 card.
"I only knew this monster was a bit extreme, but didn’t expect it to be this extreme! So if you blink, you have to give a warning for the next person to be ready?"
"Yes."
"Geez, isn’t this card too powerful? Two lifelines aren’t enough!"
"There aren’t even two," Zhao Yu reminded sincerely, "you and Brother Cheng each only have one chance left."
"So I can only stay for two minutes if I revive?"
"Two minutes isn’t enough?" The begrudging Shu Ran raised her head.
In those two minutes, enough time for Cheng Zhirang and Chu Qiu to slap a 049 label on her, and in those same two minutes, the parasite time of the 813 glass shards might be up, and then she’d be done.
Although everyone might not escape the 173 statue, only she could, but becoming the top contender was unlikely.
The more she thought about it, the more annoyed she became, to the point where she wished she could just bite off those swinging legs right in front of her!
Possibly perceiving her resentful anger, Mu Qiu’s legs immediately stopped moving, obediently pressed together, her clean eyes staring at Cheng Zhirang.
"Come."
Cheng Zhirang stretched out his hand, first lifting her down.
As soon as she touched the ground, he pulled back to talk about the main matters: "This monster is somewhat like a foreign horror movie ’As the Gods Will’. Not being able to blink is indeed a bit scary. We are now five people, four groups. Should we form an alliance?"
"No."
"No alliance."
"We won’t either, current allies lack any morals."
Shu Ran looked straight at her upon hearing this.
Who’s the most immoral ally on this show, don’t you have a clue?
Mu Qiu touched her nose and averted her eyes: "Well, let’s disperse. I’ve saved you all this much, let’s each go our own way."
After saying that, she grabbed Zhao Yu and pushed past Cheng Zhirang before running off.
The remaining three didn’t stay long either. They exchanged glances, and after leaving the school gate, each went in a different direction.
With little time left and the fifth card not yet found, they must speed up.
As Mu Qiu ran, she thought about how reviving Cheng Zhirang and Chu Qiu just now might provoke some Shu Ran fans and show fans.
But considering the show’s drama and the disadvantageous situation when the three female guests confront her and Zhao Yu, she had to do it this way.
With three traitors gathered, they could surely bring a climax to this episode, and everyone’s main identity clues still haven’t been uncovered, leaving the audience with many questions.
As for her and Zhao Yu, they just aimed for a top-three finish. Shu Ran’s card was really too powerful.
Running all the way toward the fast-food restaurant, both of them were quite out of breath, resembling a disaster escape scene.
"Mu Qiu, Mu Qiu! Listen to me, we need to find the fifth card, we might encounter 173 midway, but there are two of us, we could exchange line-sights, it’ll be a lot safer!"
"I know! I want to check the fast-food restaurant, we’ve searched many places, just not there!"
"The fast-food restaurant is Chu Qiu’s place, we still have two places not explored!"
The Insect Street Dance Club is related to both of them, the school to Li Yang and Guo Yin, the bank to Shu Ran and Han Xizheng, the residential building to Guan Yu and Chu Qiu, they all went to already.
But Shi Yuhuai’s clinic and the place set by Cheng Zhirang haven’t been visited. The latter doesn’t even know where exactly it is.
What kind of story did the production team arrange for them, that made Cheng Zhirang the soldier, Chu Qiu the happy-go-lucky soon-to-be dad, and Shu Ran the bank employee become traitors?

PS: As I said before, many movies have used monsters from the SCP Foundation, especially in horror and thriller films.
For instance, the Japanese horror film ’As the Gods Will’, the monster in the first stage is a Daruma doll that kills people, somewhat similar to SCP-173’s original statue.
I also recall an American film, whose name I’ve forgotten, using a monster similar to SCP-096 the Shy Guy.
So basically, in some movies you may have watched, creatures from the SCP Foundation may have made appearances.
