Chapter 1847 - 1731: A Chance Encounter with Chen Mengjie
The girl left. The man who looked like a rat waved at Song Yun, the disgust on his face instantly turning into a smile. "Boss, get in!"
This man who looked like a rat was a core member of Spider Web. His real name was Li Fei, but everyone called him Groundhog.
Groundhog’s combat strength wasn’t high. At most, he could barely fight someone at the very bottom of the Elephant List on the Dragon Elephant List. Compared to Song Yun, he was even more vulnerable.
But frontal combat wasn’t his thing. He was good at stealth and intel gathering, and that was exactly what he mainly did.
Song Yun got in the car, patted the center console of the Lamborghini, and said with a smile, "Groundhog, can’t you keep a low profile? Driving this out is basically announcing to everyone that I, Song Yun, have arrived in Kuala Lumpur."
Groundhog grinned. "Hehe, it should be that Asura boss has arrived in Kuala Lumpur. Those guys who want to curry favor with you and owe you favors will probably trample your doorstep flat."
Song Yun said, "At the same time, I’m also telling the enemy that I’ve arrived in Kuala Lumpur."
Groundhog said, "Boss, you don’t need to worry about that. Those two seem to know you’re looking for them, so they’re being extra cautious, let alone daring to gather intel. So you can act high-profile and just ignore them. Besides, they might not even know this Lamborghini was a gift to you from the Governor."
Song Yun laughed. "Alright, enough nonsense. Have you confirmed the exact location of those two?"
Groundhog said, "Not yet, but they’re definitely in Kuala Lumpur. At most two days and I’ll have their rough area locked down. Within three days, I’ll find their hideout."
"Good, I’ll leave this to you."
Song Yun nodded slightly, then closed his eyes to rest.
After Groundhog dropped Song Yun off at the hotel, he left the Lamborghini key with Song Yun and went off on his own, busy tracking down the whereabouts of Tang Xiaoyun and his master.
With nothing better to do, Song Yun didn’t slack off. Though his cultivation speed outside couldn’t match that in the Song Family estate, he still started cultivating in the room.
But he had just sat cross-legged when his phone rang.
He saw that it was a video call from Chen Mengjie. He accepted it, and saw her in a pure black evening dress. Behind her was a lavishly decorated hall. It looked like she was at a banquet.
But Chen Mengjie was obviously hiding in a corner, glancing elsewhere from time to time as if afraid of being discovered.
"Mengjie, missing me?"
Song Yun looked at her on the screen and teased her with a smile.
Chen Mengjie stared at the phone. "Don’t joke around. What are you doing? Huh, why are you in a hotel? Are you out there picking up little girls again?"
Her tone carried surprise and a bit of dejection. Clearly, the thought of Song Yun being out with other women made her unhappy.
Song Yun smiled. "I’m alone, handling some business in Kuala Lumpur."
Chen Mengjie’s eyes lit up in surprise. "What, you’re in Kuala Lumpur?"
"Yup, what’s wrong?"
"Don’t you dare lie to me. I’m in Kuala Lumpur too. If it’s true, then show up in front of me within half an hour."
Song Yun said in confusion, "No way, what are you doing in Kuala Lumpur?"
Chen Mengjie pouted. "I originally came to scout locations and film, and just happened to run into a banquet. Governor Wang Juhua personally invited me, so I had no choice but to come."
"Impressive, your fame’s big now, even the Governor is inviting you."
"Cut it out with the sarcasm. If you’re really in Kuala Lumpur, then hurry up and come find me. We haven’t seen each other for so long, I don’t believe you don’t miss me."
"Aiya, I miss you so much I can’t sleep every day. First thing when I open my eyes is, ah, where’s Mengjie now? Is she sleeping well, is she eating properly, hehe."
Chen Mengjie giggled. "So good. I really, really miss you too. It’s always either me out running events or you out on missions. Our chances to meet are way too small. I don’t care, you have to come find me now."
"Oh wow, I didn’t realize—after filming for a while, your tongue’s gotten pretty sharp."
"Of course. Enough talk, we’re at the Meichen Hotel, hurry over."
"Alright, I’ll be there in ten minutes."
The hotel Song Yun was staying in wasn’t far from Meichen. He could get there in a few minutes.
He immediately went downstairs, got in the Lamborghini, and headed to Meichen Hotel.
Five minutes later, the Lamborghini stopped downstairs at Meichen Hotel. Song Yun handed ten dollars and the keys to the valet. "Park the car for me, thanks."
With that, he headed straight upstairs.
Just two minutes after he stepped onto the elevator, a Rolls-Royce pulled up downstairs. A waiter opened the door and said respectfully, "President."
A middle-aged man with a restrained aura got out. This was none other than Meichen Hotel’s president, Wang Juhua.
Under Wang Juhua’s name were not only Meichen Hotel, but many other businesses. He was the third-richest tycoon in Malaysia, had been granted the rank of first-class Great Governor, and had very good relations with the Royal Family and high-ranking officials. He was a major figure in Malaysia.
Normally, Wang Juhua wouldn’t personally come to Meichen Hotel.
The profits from this business were nothing but a drop in the bucket to him.
But today there was a cocktail party here. Though it was hosted by his son, it was done under his name, and many Malaysian socialites had been invited, so he still had to show his face.
Of course, he’d just show up briefly and then leave right away.
Just as Wang Juhua was about to head inside, he suddenly noticed the Lamborghini downstairs. His eyes lit up at once and he quickly asked the waiter beside him, "Where is the owner of that car?"
The waiter looked at the excited president, a bit confused. "That guest, he’s gone upstairs."
Wang Juhua asked, "Did he say where he was going?"
"Sorry, President, he didn’t say." The waiter shook his head.
Wang Juhua frowned slightly and quickly walked into the hotel, saying to the assistant beside him, "I’m going back to my office now. Go to the monitoring room immediately and have them find the person who drove that Lamborghini, then tell me where he is."
"Yes." The assistant responded, then asked, "But President, what about tonight’s cocktail party?"
Wang Juhua waved his hand. "I won’t attend the party. Go tell Dai Hao that I’m meeting an honored guest tonight."
"Yes, President."
The assistant nodded and headed straight for the hotel’s monitoring room.
As he walked, he called Wang Juhua’s son, Wang Daichao. When he told him the news that Wang Juhua wouldn’t be attending the party, Wang Daichao was extremely displeased.
For tonight’s cocktail party, he had invited quite a few people. They were all coming for his father, and he had even used his father’s name when sending invitations.
But now that Wang Juhua wasn’t showing up, it was going to make Wang Daichao lose a lot of face.
Especially since he had his eye on a star from Huaxia. If he lost face, how was he supposed to win her over?
