There is a gadget for everyone, whether you are a student or a businessman – gadgets are fast becoming a must-have, helping us complete tasks, check our email and browse the web from wherever we are. It’s not just adults who love gadgets, though…there are plenty of gadgets which can benefit kids, too, and even act as an emergency pacifier!

Is your child desperate to play with your iPad? They have been a huge success with children – the touchscreen interface is very inituitive to them, and the interface is easy to work out, too. The tablet works as an e-book reader, mainly for children’s books, and utilises the camera and video camera to encourage the child to make films involving themselves, putting them together with sound. It also comes with educational games, including logic, mathematics, spelling and phonics, and automatically makes the questions more difficult as your child gets better. It even encourages them to practise their handwriting on the screen!

Older children will probably prefer the real thing, and with it’s wide range of apps and functionality, you might find a family iPad is the best option for you. Equally, your child might prefer something a little less educational – the new Ninendo 3DS allows your child to experience games in 3D, and you can buy educational games such as spelling, logic and painting – although whether your child will play them is another matter! It also has old favorites such as Mario Brothers and Pokemon!

The gadget market for children is expanding all the time – there are thousands of videos of children effortlessly working Apple products, and the iPad might even get voted Children’s Toy of the Year! Encourage your child to get used to using gadgets to get things done, and it is sure to be a benefit for our gadget-packed future!

What is a Digital Pill Box?

Anyone taking more then one prescription medication per day knows that it can become confusing to try to remember which pill you are supposed to take and at what time it is supposed to be taken. Taking medication strictly as prescribed is of absolute importance, maybe even life saving. Remembering the proper dosages and times can become a problem, especially for senior citizens that take quite a few different types of medications per day.  Old fashioned pill boxes can work well for many, but if the person needing the medication is even slightly forgetful, the medications can be taken at the wrong time, not at all, or in the wrong dosage, due to the fact that the old fashioned pill boxes need a very alert and conscientious person to refill them every day.

Modern technology has solved part of the problem by way of a digital pill box. This gadget is extremely useful and should be used for anyone that has trouble remembering when to take their medication. Most models of the digital pill box contain approximately seven separate compartments to hold the pills. Better yet, after it has been programmed, it will beep to let you know that it is time for the next dose of medication. Many styles also have a flashing light to alert the user that a dose has been missed.

Most models have recorders that will store all information as to when the medication was taken. After a dose has been dispensed, the digital pill box will lock itself until it is time for the next dose. This can be a lifesaver for patients that have trouble remembering the correct times to take their medicine. Most digital pill boxes are very inexpensive, so they can make a perfect gift for a family member that has to take medications on a daily basis.

The world is shaped by digital media and the easy transfer of signals through virtual connections. This is a common assumption and the public believes there is no need for external sources or magnetic tape. Such things disappeared with the introduction of digital converters. However, that is incorrect.

The need for analog functions still remains, and tape drives are essential to providing offline storage and data compression. These peripherals prove that not all elements of the computer are meant to support the Internet. Instead, they ensure that no information is misplaced or lost. And the advancements made in this area are nothing less than remarkable.

Tape drives offer a prodigious history. With origins extending back to 1951, they have managed to survive the online fervor and have carved a place for themselves in businesses across the world. As of 2011, the progress found in these devices is well worth the interest.

The IBM System Storage TS2250 Tape Drive Express is the most recent example of this peripheral, and has greatly improved the faults of its predecessors. No Hiding From the Boss With GPS

Thinking of ways to avoid a boss’s attention used to be a storied work tradition. It was very much so for employees in charge of company cars out on the road who could sneak a few minutes at a coffee shop or even take a snooze at home. With greater mapping and tracking technology such siestas are becoming harder and harder to pull off. Most company cars are now under tight scrutiny, but that’s not all. Employers also have the ability to track employees through their company issued cellphones too.

GPS systems were originally placed into company vehicles for good reason: to improve safety, formulate efficient routes and track them in case of theft. While they have certainly worked in all of those areas, it has raised questions of company spying and lack of trust. It is certainly within the rights of a company to review logs if a problem occurs, but should they question an employee’s every move to see if they are lying about where they’ve been or if their expenses are accurate?

Employees that don’t have to rely on a car, like those working in a city, may think they are in the clear of such scrutiny, but may be mistaken. Cellphone towers are quite good at picking up and storing location data for cellphones. In addition, some cellphones are equipped with the same GPS technology in cars. This means the employers can similarly track the actual movements of their employees just as they do with their company cars. Employees with company phones may want to think twice about those early exits.

Lastly, many employees today have lost their clandestine touch and are giving themselves away with social media posts and tweets. What’s put out on the Internet is available for everyone to see, and that means everyone. A boss might have questions about your post on that water cooler party happening of floor three, along with those frequent weekend binges.
